Minnesota Flood – Fall 2010

It was an amazing thing to see. The very waters that I had quietly sat beside in a treestand or shot ankle-deep photos of folks in raged violently through the valley and into the fields. Our hearts go out to the many folks who lost homes and belongings in the area. We were lucky to not have any water or damage to our place and thankfully most of the fields survived the waters.

Here are some photos and video from the fields around our farm.

This is a cornfield down the road that was starting to flood after the night’s rain already at 7AM.

One of my favorite spots to shoot senior photos. Usually we stand right in the stream right here.

This was from up on the hill above the farm. Basically the whole bottom was under water. Part of this is pasture and part cornfield. Everything survived and the cows made their way to higher ground in a hurry!

This video was pretty much over one of my foodplots. Everything survived, but it looked awful for a while.

This was the same spot later in the afternoon. You can see 18″ diameter tree trunks coming down the Little Cannon River.
