I traveled to NW Indiana to join Dr. Marissa Hake on a day in the veal industry. Veal is a very misunderstood food and area in production agriculture. It is often put at the front of the animal cruelty conversation much thanks to simple and unintended ignorance.

Admittedly, I didn’t know much myself going into this day, but came away with a newfound appreciation for the industry and it’s committed and passionate membership. These animals are cared for and attended to unlike almost any other facility I’ve ever been to. And Dr. Hake has a true love for the calves and is passionate about educating the public about the misnomers that are out there.
